Item description

Tailor, Matthew Mole & Nahkane Toure

Matthew Mole’s debut album “The Home We Built’ entered the top of the itunes chart on its release, making Mole the country’s first artist ever to achieve this. He played every instrument besides the strings, including ukulele, banjo, organ, piano, guitars, drums and umpteen percussive instruments. Matthew Mole says “Every song is about real experiences I’ve had, but also the way Ive reacted to them, because of the way I was raised.”

Pinning Tailor down to a single style is impossible. Musically, the singer flits from modern folk to blues-rock to pure pop and spooky soul. Songs can be rich and cinematic or simple and sparse. Vocally, Tailor is as versatile. You’ll hear hints of Patti Smith and PJ Harvey in her rockier songs, but also of Feist, Florence Welch, Ellie Goulding and Kate Bush.

Nakhane Touré is a restless soul on a mission to make sense of the world with his songs.
With his high, haunting vocals, you’ll hear an artist not afraid to expose himself. and in the vast range of styles that come naturally to Touré, you’ll find a young man who makes music, not for fame, but because it is the best way he knows to express his emotions. Nakhane Touré says, “I’m a black man from South Africa performing alternative music, but what does that matter? In 2013, what does race or geography even mean when it comes to art?”

Ticket prices: Adults R90; Youth (6-21) with ID R65 and Botanical society members with card R80.
